Sigma Phi Beta (ΣΦΒ) Beta Chapter at Indiana University hosts it 5th annual “Drag for a Cause” benefit Tuesday, March 28th to raise funds for Bloomington community resource Prism Youth Group, “an inclusive social group for youth [ages 12-20] celebrating all sexual orientations, gender identities, and gender expressions” (from their website).
Past causes have included Indiana Youth Group and IU GLBT Student Support Services. Past winners have included CeeCee Marie, Nikita Diamond and, last year, Bendovah Plenti:
Performers are judged based on their lip sync, look/attire, stage presence and the amount of money they raise for the program with their tips.
This year’s show in Whittenberger Auditorium stars special guest Mrs. Kasha Davis from Season 7 of RuPaul’s Drag Race, is sponsored by Hutton Honors College (HHC) and the IU Office of the Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity and Multicultural Affairs and is hosted by Argenta Perón. The show is ticketed. VIP Meet-and-Greet tickets cost $10 ($7 for HHC students), and the meet-and-greet starts at 6pm. General admission tickets cost $7 ($5 for HHC students), and the main show starts at 7pm.
